Dec 19

Dec 19 - Two problems, both concerning Buckeye Road. Problem 1. Today we noticed that Buckeye Road has been left an unholy mess by repeated heavy truck traffic and a recent very low level scraping which has knocked off almost all the gravel and left rutted tractor treads. In a heavy rain, this will be a difficult situation. We are aware that a builder on Grouse Thicket recently hauled in dozens of heavy loads of fill dirt in addition to a lot of other work going on in that area. (We hope he paid a hefty impact fee!) Problem 2. The first 200 yards or so of Buckeye Road, just over the lip off the paved Bald Mountain Road has lost about all its gravel and someone is going to shoot over that lip on an icy or snowy day, brake, and lose it. That stretch is as slick as a Mountain Politician. Buckeye Road is one of the most important and utilized arterial roads in Wolf Laurel Resort. We sincerely hope these conditions are noticed and remedied. Thanks. |
Dec 21 - The problem has been turned over to Harold Tipton. He is investigating the situation this morning. Thanks for the information.

Dec 15 - Thank you for the new sign... but the spelling is incorrect. The sign should read McDaris instead of McDarius. Can you please replace it? Maybe you can get the sign company to make good on a new sign? Thank you again for all your hard work. |
Dec 21 - Harold Tipton is aware of this situation and will correct the sign. Thanks for your concern.

Nov 16 - We have just closed on 523 El Minor Court. We are so excited to build and plan on starting construction as soon as the weather permits. I would like to submit an application and plans A.S.A.P. Where should they be delivered? | Nov 19 - Welcome to Wolf Laurel Resort! Our architectural building information can be located on this website under the ARB link. Or please visit the office of Bob Burns, located next to the swimming pool, for more information.

Nov 12
|
Nov 12 - Corner of Ridgeway and Bee Tree has large hole created by heavy construction vehicles. This hole has been a problem since last fall. We use our home frequently in the winter months. This condition is unsafe. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Nov 01
|
Nov 01 - Are plans finalized to have readable and lighted sign in place to guide ski traffic to correct turnoff? Last year numerous drivers became lost after going past the ski turnoff, sometimes in dangerous snow and ice conditions on the roads. The sign for the ski slope is very hard to read in the daytime. It is impossible to see at night. |
Nov 15 - We have looked at possible lighting at that site and it's a pretty good way over to power access; and cost probably would prohibit a lighted sign. Will talk to Orville English about plans for a new sign.

Oct 29
|
Oct 29 - The road below our address is succumbing to the heavy cement truck and FAST pick-up truck travel for the new property higher than our property. It is washing out and becoming a potential hazard to drive. It has deteriorated from Labor Day weekend until the present date. Solution: Pave it or re-enforce the road before it washes out or slips anymore. |
Nov 15 - There has been considerable work done on Birch Springs Lane such as new drain pipes. Paving would have to be done by the property owners along that road. Road seems to be in good condition.

Oct 12 - Mayapple Lane is in need of gravel and grading in general. Many areas have little or no gravel remaining and have developed a washboard effect. Apparently, the construction traffic building a couple of homes in our vicinity added to the deterioration of the road. Please consider a general maintenance before winter. Thank you for checking into this. |
Oct - Gravel has been placed on some parts of MayApple Lane and
the motor grader has scraped the road.

Oct 12 - I recently purchased this property lot on Trillium Lane. Having walked the property again recently, I noticed on the upper-right corner of the lot (looking up from below Buckeye Road), that there seems to be a very low rise from the back of my property onto the road area of Buckeye Road. Is it possible to have this area made into a future access point onto my property instead of the only current option being to cut a long drive site up from Trillium Lane itself...up to the area where I would like to build on my lot? I see a home up from my lot, which does in fact have access to the property off of Buckeye Road. It is a lot about 2 to 3 lots up from my property at 13 Trillium Lane. Thanks for your time and consideration of this matter! |
Oct - Owner has been contacted regarding this matter.

Oct 09 - Hey! Great site! We were wondering who we talk to about getting FoxDen smoothed out in some areas. The runoff water has caused some pretty good-sized "bumps" and holes in the road! Thanks. |
Oct 09 - Message forwarded to Harold. Will look at road and address issue.

Mar 03 - We have paid our road maintenance fees every year for 15 years. I am amazed when we come up in the summer to find the same pot holes that have been there forever. I find it very annoying that people who pay their fees are not scheduled every winter/summer to grade the roads. In the summer, the weeds are not mowed and you can barely judge the edge of the road. My husband and I will be coming to our home on Mar 18 and I would like to see the road in order. My suggestion is to keep a list of the people who pay and let them see some results.
|
Mar 03 - Entire message sent to Tommy. Also gave this message to Marvin for an update on the status of Hanging Rock.
Mar 08 - Ditches have been pulled on Hanging Rock and currently working on the gravel.
Mar 10 - Hanging Rock has been graded. |

Feb 24

Feb 24 - Over the year that we have been at 374 El Miner - 34 years - there seems to have evolved some confusion as to who should maintain the stretch of road between El Miner and our property line. Back in the 1970s the mountain took very good care of it, grading and ditching as needed, even putting down a little road bond or gravel once in a while. The last time it was graded, I hired the folks that did the new tennis courts. We feel it's time that Wolf Laurel gave some attention to this short stretch of road once again. |
Feb - Snow was scraped and pushed after each snowfall. Ditch was pulled in.

Feb 24 - Spring Valley is in desperate need of some major work. It needs a new gravel base and there are two areas of major concern that appear to be the beginnings of a washout. This is a highly traveled road and should be maintained regularly. Also, Valley View in front of the Inn needs the recent repairs to be repaved again. |
Feb - Marvin and his crew have working placing new gravel on Spring Valley and in the area in front of the Inn. Carolina Water was billed accordingly.

Jan 22 - Just a quick note to let you know how appreciative some south Florida folks were for the Road Maintenance crew in helping them out of a jam Christmas week. In addition to my request to sand Trillium, the Road Maintenance crew retrieved the visitors' vehicle out of a precarious position from which the family had to abandon the night before.

Jan 06

Jan 06 - Please re-evaluate whether to pave Lookout from Ridgeway to the gate at the Ridges. From October 31 through April 30, when this road is icy or snow-covered or even muddy, it is dangerous and often impassable. Although I have a Land Rover Discovery II, I find the ascent and descent to my home at 611 Lookout to be treacherous. Over Thanksgiving I grew tired of the screams of spouses and children as my vehicle reacted to gravity on ice. This affects the desire of my family to patronize Wolf Laurel for six months of the year. I would be willing to pay a front foot assessment. If paving requires the unanimous consent of all abutting owners, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to ever accomplish any meaningful road improvements. I suspect the marketability of the Ridges would improve if the road to the gate there were paved. Should paving not be attainable immediately or in the near term, there are other safety measures, such as a guard rail or enhanced road maintenance, that would encourage year-round occupancy. |
Jan 06 - Sent entire message to Tommy.
